We often think water creates distance.
Sea wolves know it creates connection. They recognize that life, in fact, is not lived on the island. It's lived in the tides of the sea.
To us, the ocean looks like the thing keeping islands apart. To a sea wolf, it's the very thing that brings them together. Sea wolves don't just chase the biggest fish in the sea. They hunt what's available. Whatever the season provides. They survive not because they demand and take more than they need, but because they learned to adapt.
They don't wait for certainty before they move. They don't mistake open water for a barrier. They recognize it for what it is: a path.
Not every chapter of your life will come with a bridge. Some will simply ask you to cross the sea, because the tides were never meant to keep you from where you're meant to go.
Life isn't just on the island and it's not waiting for us on arrival, either.
We spend so much of our lives chasing destinations, goals, cities. The next opportunity. The next version of ourselves. Believing life begins the moment we finally get there. When the tides are the whole point. The highs, the lows, the laughter, & the fear that the sea will take you down. The conversations we have along the way. The people we meet. The unexpected detours. The quiet evolution during the moments we’ve hardly noticed because we’re too focused on where we’re trying to go.
Life is found in the uncertainty of leaving one shore before you can see the next. In trusting the current. In moving forward even when there isn't a bridge waiting for you.
Because when we finally cross, that's where we change.
